Finding a home is about more than finding the perfect house. It is also about locating the perfect community, the perfect neighborhood, and the perfect place for your particular needs. Everyone is different and has their own set of wants to make them feel secure in their choices.
Most of the buyers in this area are moving here from other parts of the country. I have worked with many buyers from many places in my real estate career, and those that search the area, as well as the homes, seem to be the happiest after the move. Those that are just searching for the house are playing the lottery with their future. Especially in todays market where you may have to live in that home for a very long time.
If you are looking at a possible move to an area that you have never even visited, do some good research. First ask yourself what you are looking for in a new town. Are you seeking a country feel, a mountain feel? Are you looking for small town living or big city living? Do you have children that require special needs or special schools? What criteria must a city have in order to make you happy?
When I moved this last time to Western North Carolina, I had a set of 10 criteria that this area had to meet in order for me to feel like I could call it home. I checked each out to ensure that I would be able to be happy here. And luckily all were met. That was prior to looking at one house. You should do this as well. It can save a lot of heart ache down the line.
After you meet the top ten criteria for the area, think about what you want in a neighborhood. What are you looking for there? Are you wanting to live in a small neighborhood that is quiet, or a large one with a lot of activity and community involvement? Are you wanting to be close to town or in a remote location? Do you want an older more established neighborhood, or a brand new one with all new homes?
What are your top ten must have criteria in a city or neighborhood? If you are looking at a possible move to the Hendersonville area and would like more information on housing or the area, drop me an email or call me. I can help you determine if we have your your ten must have criteria right here in Western North Carolina.
